Removing Corrosion AKA Koreng Karatan

Setelah 5taun ngecat ulang (major body repair), bodi siucing udah mulai menampakkan tanda-tanda korengan x-(
Dipikir2 bener juga kepala bengkelnya dulu, dijamin 5 taun catnya kuat, ngga luntur (koplak juga, cat mobil luntur?). But as soon as the fifth passed, you'll see it starting to corroded.
Sayang gw ga simpen poto2 bagian cat yang ngangkat karena korosi metal dibawahnya. At least here some pics after paint peeled off.

It's in the door side front n rear, also side roof. All at the left side, don't know why ???
After reading here n there all about the corrosion things, something made me stumblde upon. This is natural chemical reactions, metal exposed to nature weather will going to oxydized and reddish ferrit appeared. Metal turn itself into another form, an ugly form.
So how to cure? Is there any?
Well, nature is amazing. While there some action, there will be reaction. That is why we have alchemy in school !
Nature provide another chemical to change brittle red oxydized metal into something more stable but rough blacken ferrite. It's call vinegar in our kitchen :-)
While sound is a bit counter intuitive, yes Vinegar is very acidic.
Let's wrapped it up in a practical DIY style. Yeeeeeehaaaaa
Put some drops o' vinegar onto paper tissue then let it stick to exposed metal. In this case, my car.

After gently sticked, pour again bits of drop onto tissue. Care to hold it in place.

Getting curious n impatient, I removed the tissue after first dried.

Well, not much but proves the vinegar is working the job. I decide to put some soak again n again after wet tissue get dried.

Not bad! It eat up corroded metal n even lightly corroded part back to shiny metal!
In the process, I also change the tissue just to get visible reddish color and rub the metal using scorch pad.
Now is the job of putty n sanders to cover the exposed metal.

Filling, sanding, smoothing...the process repeated N times.
Done!
What? Done?
You don't get it paint yet?
Yeah I know, I just have a plan to restore whole body paint next year. So I won't bother to do the paint in just some little area.
Just leave it as it is for now, maybe some sticker will coming to play later. Yeah, maybe.

Power Windows - Servicing

Live is beautiful
Ride is always nice
Until something break...grrr

Ok, now power windows come into play the role of jam, no up n downwards motion. Lazy as hell.

Then I decide to fix it myself, as usual :-)
First thing first. Prepare sets of screwdrivers, grease, gloves n wrench sets.
The key to reach in n taking out motor unit, is to loosen door glass n plastic reel guide. It's a bit tricky to loosen door glass, it secure by a plastic guide which has lock mechanism by two-wing lock. I have to press both wings (each side) and push the glass from the guide and definitely no room for both hands there.
After thinking some easier way then comes the idea. Use #10 ring-wrench to squish the wings and push the glass using screwdriver to loosen the glass. It works!
Me n ma brain ;)

Pull out PW unit, gently

Taking the unit apart, see the motor there

The square plastic can be taken off to replace brush, but I decide to taking the motor apart to get more detailed inspection *sounds like a pro huh? :P

The process need the works of hammer, plastic lid securing by metal body. No other way to open it up

Next process is just a straight forward cleaning and brisking emery paper in all visible contact.
Assembly and installation is also just a bolt on process.

Is it working again? Off course, Tony!
